First, a quick update on Seville. We did take her to the asthma and allergy doctor last Wednesday (September 24th) and she WAS diagnosed with “Seasonal Asthma”. Seasonal asthma (as we were told) is often complicated by viral infections, colds, flu, etc., so if a group of kids is exposed to something (as is the case this time of year) then one kid might just get a runny nose, the other might get a runny nose and cough, one might not get sick at all and poor little Seville will most likely get very sick and she will take a long time (upwards of a month) to recover. Since the doctor said it is common for kids to get sick every 6-8 weeks through the fall and winter then with Seville it will basically seem like we are just recovering from one thing before we are on to the next…or they might just overlap! This is definitely what we experienced last year! Fun! Anyway, he adjusted all of her medications and the goal is to stay ahead of the breathing issues as much as possible so that we are on oral steroids as little as possible (thank goodness since they make her CRAZY!) When she is sick she will have up to four breathing treatments a day of two different medications and when she is healthy she will still have one treatment a day of one medications (there are varying degrees of medications and amounts for in between/recovery stages…I feel like I need to be a doctor!) The good news is she sounds GREAT right now, which is far better than the progress we made last year. Last year we did the treatments for months on end and she never sounded good! With the new treatment plan she sounds much better, so we are glad we got to the bottom of this! There is hope that she will grow out of the asthma, and also when she gets a bit older we will be able to use an inhaler instead of the breathing machine. That day cannot come soon enough since she is not so happy about the machine lately! In the meantime, I refuse to keep her in a bubble. If she doesn’t pick up the sickness somewhere then she is going to pick it up some place else, or her big sis will just bring it home to her! I have had multiple docs tell me that getting sick 6-8 times per year is just normal for kids this age. They are building their immune system and they will be better off in the long run because of it!
Okay, on to more fun stuff. I guess I might as well just start off and go backwards. That seems a bit less daunting to me!
Scott was out of town a bit this week, but we managed much better and didn’t end up in the ER this time! Hooray for that!
Last Sunday while Scott and Jeremy went to the Chief’s game (Scott got free tickets from work), Kristi and I took the four girls to lunch and then to Averi’s birthday party! Averi, for those of you who don’t remember, is the daughter of Becki and Brett (our old neighbors!) Averi and Seville also go to Gail’s together. Averi turned three and had her party at Wonderscope Children’s Museum, which is where Hadley had her three year-old party as well! It is always a fun place to go and this time the little girls were able to play! They seemed to really enjoy it, but boy did they wear Kristi and me out! They had never been as feisty as they were at lunch that day!! One guy at McDonald’s was getting the biggest kick out of us try to keep the babies under control! He thought it was funny, but we did not (well, maybe a little!) Here are some pics from the party!
Seville in the toddler room!
She loved carrying around this bucket of golf balls!
They were not really suppose to sit in here, but owell...they DID!
Could these two sit any closer!
The birthday girl...Averi Paige!
We didn't find this slide until the very end...too bad because Seville could have spent the whole party there!
On Saturday we had our Second Annual Hayride, but that deserves a post of its own, so keep reading below…
