Just thought I would share a few quick pics from "Treat Week" at Hadley's school. They all got to bring special treats to share with the class. The idea was for them to be creative and somewhat healthy...oh yeah, and the kids had to help you make them! The first thing that came to my mind was the "Bacon and Eggs" I use to make with my mom as a kid. You take two stick pretzels (the bacon) and then stick them together with melted white chocolate (the egg) and then stick a yellow M&M on top (the yolk!) Hadley really enjoyed making these (and Seville enjoyed eating the part while we were trying to make them!) Ms. B took a picture and I posted it below so you can see what I am talking about. The second idea just came to me and I have no idea why. My thought was a healthy version of a candy necklace/bracelet, so I decided we could probably use grapes as the beads and licorice rope as the string. Then I decided since they do so many "patterns" at school that we could alternate red and green grapes. Well, this was a good thought and again Hadley had a blast making them, but we made them the night before and by the next morning the grape juice had made the licorice rope soggy and the bracelets were breaking. I knew Hadley would be sad, so Scott and I made some pre-skewered grapes and then the kids got to string their own...this probably was more fun anyway! You can see how proud Hadley was to bring her treats to school and help show the kids how to make the bracelets!
