San Francisco | Day Two

Okay everyone...get ready for San Francisco Day Two! It was a fantastic day, and I took hundreds of pics, but I have narrowed down "some" of my favorites to post here! It has been a rather rough week around the Skinner house...the girls have been sick, sick and sicker...so I thought posting the second day of our fabulous trip would be just the pick-up I need...and it was! I just love looking back on pictures once there is a little bit of distance between the time they were taken! They just hold so many memories!

First off, you might remember this post where I asked you to guess where we had gone on vacation! Well, when I posted the first day pics I forgot to post the answer to picture #1, so here it is:
"Here we are at the top of Lombard Street!"
Okay, now on to day two! On day two we got up bright and early to go on the "Early Bird" tour of Alcatraz. When you are only in the Bay Area for three days you have to get up and get going...which means coffee (or in my case a latte) is a must!
Coit Tower!
The boat that took us over to Alcatraz!
This is the second "Take a Guess" picture! So now you know... "Here we are on a boat to Alacatraz!"
View from the boat back to the shore!
Getting closer to The Rock!
San Fran!
The Golden Gate Bridge...really it is!
Getting ready to dock at Alcatraz!
Scott and I getting ready to disembark!
Famous Alcatraz sign!
Hiking up the hill!
Inside the prison!
A standard cell!
Scott inside cell #12!
The warden's house!
Scott and I outside on top of The Rock...listening to our audio tours!
The Golden Gate Bridge...again...REALLY!
We were able to see little glimpses of the bridge. See the trees sticking out of the fog on the upper right...keep those in mind for when I post day three pics at some point...we went up there!
Another look at San Fran...the fog was still trying to clear!
Scott...back inside and back in the cell!
Inside a standard cell!
Amy and me sitting in a cell...on the potty! HA!!
Sweet friends!
Da boys!
Figuring out where to go next!
Cool shots of the lighthouse/watch tower and warden's house from below!

The bridge started to peek out...
...this is the most we were EVER able to see it!
Yeah...so glad we actually got pictures with the bridge before it decided to hide again!
Amy and Aaron too!
So cute!
Love it!
I love how you can see the streets going straight up the hills!

On our way down the Agave trail!

Group shot!

After Alcatraz we headed over to Pier 39 to look around, have some lunch and see the sea lions!
I love this sea lion family on the left. It reminds me of our family of four! :)
Alcatraz from Pier 39!
Boy was it windy!
Creative sourdough!
Then we headed to Fisherman's Warf!
This shot shows how the fog started to come back in and cover the bridge! Now you could only see the tips!
WOW...we were in shock! Yes, that is her bra and underwear!
Then we headed to Ghirardelli Square for some of their famous chocolate! Unfortunately we were still too full from lunch to have one of their famous sundaes. I guess we will have to go back! Bummer!
I loved all of the homes in San Fran! I especially think I might be happy in this one...
...or maybe this one!
We eventually made our way to the beach! It was pretty cold, but we had to put our feet in the sand!
Amy had to test the water...it was FREEZING!!
Even though we made our way all the way to Golden Gate State Park and were right at the base of the Golden Gate bridge we couldn't see it AT ALL...not even a glimmer of an outline! It was so disappointing because we knew it would be right there as big as life if only the fog would move, but it wouldn't. It is hard to imagine fog so thick that it can completely cover something so big right in front of you. It still boggles my mind that this was our up close view of the bridge. So, if you haven't guessed already, this was the "Take a Guess" picture #3! The Golden Gate Bridge REALLY is behind that think fog!
I can't remember what this is called, but it was pretty...we called it the ruins!
It totally reminded me of our trip to Rome years ago!

Scott, Amy and Aaron under the dome!
Inside the dome!
Then we headed to Alamo Square...
...home of the famous "Seven Sisters!" What a gorgeous view!!

Amy had the great idea to get some group shots, so she put her camera on the hill and set the timer and then ran back down to her spot. We couldn't stop laughing the first time...watching her run back to her place was hilarious!
We finally pulled ourselves together!
Maybe Aaron is counting the houses to make sure there are really seven!
I have no idea why she is laughing, but we laughed A LOT...so it is a good memory for me!
The boys resting on the hill before we headed back out to explore!
We decided we needed to ride the cable cars one last time...this time the "California Line" down California Street!
This time Amy and I decided to hang out the sides and we let the guys sit!
It was so much fun!
What a view with the Bay Bridge right between the building and the steep, steep street! I just love it! One of my favorite memories!
Our quick glimpse of China Town!
We went back to the hotel real quick to clean up and then headed out to dinner at the Slanted Door!
It was our FAVORITE meal of the whole trip! We loved everything...we sat outside...we had a wonderful view of the Bay Bridge...and we had great conversation! It was a truly perfect evening!
It was so neat to see the Bay Bridge slowly light up as we ate!
WOW...what a day! I can't believe we fit it all in! After all that we headed back to the hotel to crash and rest up for an equally packed day three! Stay tuned!
